DIBY – Adrianne Sweater

Even though it’s still around 100 degrees everyday, I decided to try out a new to me pattern, the Adrianne Sweater by DIBY. This sweater caught my attention some time ago, and I was eager to sew it up! Plus, it’s always really chilly inside in the AC…

I measured between a size 4 and size 8, and graded to get the fit I needed. I forgot to lengthen the pattern as I usually have to do on top patterns, but I don’t think I needed to. I think the length is good. I followed the pattern instructions, and made no modifications.

I chose a Brushed Sweater Knit Melange fabric from Sly Fox Fabrics in Wine. The fabric is lightweight, and works beautifully with this pattern. I haven’t sewn up many sweater knits before, so I am glad to say that I did not have any trouble with the fabric.

I chose the 3/4 length sleeves, with cuffs for this Adrianne. I almost always do full length sleeves, but wanted to mix things up with this sew. I am so glad I went with this length, as I think I’ll get more use out of it for a couple more months out of the year!

I really like how the back piece is not cut on the fold. This allows for better shaping on the pattern. I opted to topstitch my center back seam down, which makes for a cleaner look.

The bottom hemline, or bands, on this pattern is what I really liked about it. The split side really sets the Adrianne Sweater apart from other patterns out in the pdf sewing world. I advise you to read the instruction very carefully on these steps! I had the bands clipped incorrectly, and am so glad I read the directions one more time before sewing to correct myself before I needed to pull out my seam ripper. The construction makes perfect sense as long as the instructions are followed. 🙂 One of my favorite things about DIBY patterns is the clear instructions.

I love this pattern and see myself getting lots of use out of this Adrianne Sweater this fall and winter! Even though the pattern isn’t a new one, it is new to me and will mix things up in my closet. I like being able to style this one casual, or dressed up a bit. It would look great with work pants as well. Make sure to head over to the DIBY website to grab your copy today or check out the gallery of the pattern!
