Pattern release day! Always such a great day in the pdf sewing world. The last couple of weeks or so I was able to test the new Moonstruck Skirt from Pickle Toes Patterns. This was my first time testing for the company! I have made a couple of their other patterns, and last summer their Safari Tank was my favorite for the little, as it was looser fitting and fit nicely over his toddler belly.
As soon as I saw the tester call for the skirt, I jumped at the opportunity. The timing was perfect with spring break starting, and I had recently been pinning all kinds of similar skirts that I knew would work great with this pattern. I chose the below the knee length, lengthening slightly for my height.
The skirt went through some changes throughout testing, and the designer finally landed on the fit she was looking for. The skirt is a tighter fitting skirt with an elastic waistband. There are multiple lengths from mini to maxi, which makes the pattern incredibly versatile. Also, there is a side ruching option! I did not sew this version up, but I have plans, to… it is such a great feature!
I landed on using some of my Flying Pig Fabric Cotton/Lycra for this skirt. The fabric is the perfect weight so that it is not see through, but still comfortable enough dressed up or down. The stripes are yarn died and the solid gold color is a perfect match!
I have the skirt paired with a Patterns for Pirates Favorite Tee that I made over a year ago. The deep purple color works so well with the colors in the skirt! Unfortunately, when we took photos it was dark and rainy. Hopefully I can get some better photos up soon for you all. 🙂
Hurry and grab the Moonstruck Skirt while it is on sale for release!
As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!
