New Horizon Designs – Tami

This winter, I decided to tackle a few hoodie patterns for myself. The Tami by New Horizon Designs is currently at the top of my list. I have made two versions, in different types of fabric and different hoods and I really like the fit.

The first one, I used the single crossover hood. Living in Arizona, there is not really a need for the double hood option, although I do like the look. I did end up lining the hood. I cut two, taking off about an inch off the face of the hood, since I would not need the one inch seam allowance. I sewed the hoods together using a 1/4″ seam allowance, and it worked great!

I opted out of the thumbhole cuffs. In the future, if I make a comfy at home hoodie, I’ll probably add them in!

I used this beautiful border print from Blended Thread Fabrics. This was my first border print order, and I can’t wait to order more in the future! This is the French Terry, and it was my first time working with custom printed French Terry fabric. I will definitely be ordering more in the future. The black is Cotton/Lycra from Flying Pig Fabrics.

I used the border for the front and one sleeve. But, I cut the sleeves backward. 😦 I wanted the bordered arm on the same side of the bordered front of the top… but I don’t think it is that noticeable. The border print fabric’s background matched a plain option of the same fabric. I used the plain on the back and the hood! I love the look of this one.

The next one I made, I opted for the standard hood and made no modifications.

I used French Terry from Boho Fabrics. The fabric is so soft!

This one is so comfy, and I am currently wearing it (and may have worn it yesterday, too…).

I definitely really like this pattern, and have a couple more planned! This was my first sew from New Horizon Designs, and I can’t wait to try more of their patterns!

As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
